The project aims to reduce delays experienced by passengers and vehicles at six inland borders that South Africa shares with its neighbouring countries. This will facilitate the efficient movement of goods to improve regional trade. The project is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) as per the Regulation 16 of the PFMA. The private party is expected to design, construction, as well as operate and finance the redevelopment of the identified borders. The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) with the Border Management Authority (BMA) is the project Sponsor
