“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” – Nelson Mandela
Madiba’s legacy of dignity, access, and opportunity continues to inspire action at Infrastructure South Africa (ISA). In support of the Back-to-School Shoe Donation Drive, Nombulelo Nyathela, Chief Executive for Communications and External Relations at ISA, reaffirmed the central link between social infrastructure and educational outcomes. She emphasised that access to education is shaped hand-in-hand with both policy intent and the physical conditions, both social and economic, that allow learners to participate fully and with dignity.
Across schools in the Greater Taung and Mamusa municipalities learners will be able to begin the school year with confidence and dignity. Through this initiative, nine schools in the area were supported, reinforcing the understanding that meaningful educational outcomes are built in classrooms and through the conditions that allow learners to participate fully in learning.
The Presidency of South Africa, Brand SA, KPMG, NSFAS and ISA joined hands with community leaders, partners and educators to provide hundreds of learners with a simple yet powerful stepping stone on their long walk through education: a pair of school shoes.
This initiative reflects a shared commitment to strengthening communities and investing in the future of South Africa’s learners.
