Last week, Head of ISA (acting) Mameetse Masemola and CD: External Relations and Communications, Nombulelo Nyathela joined Minister Sihle Zikalala for his official work visit to China

The Minister and delegation were officially hosted by the China International Development Corporation Agency and China Construction Communication Company. The delegation held fruitful meetings with China State Construction Engineering Company, China Energy Engineering Company and the New Development Bank. The Ministers visit was aimed at leveraging the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative to pivot the country’s infrastructure investment plan and fastrack the delivery of infrastructure in the country.

In the coming weeks, ISA will spearhead the following:

  1. A cooperation agreement with an agency of the National Development Reform Commission on technical capacity building and infrastructure investment promotion
  2. Identify projects in the pipeline that lend themselves to collaboration with the Chinese Government
  3. Support the signing of a cooperation agreement with CIDCA on the facilitation of pre-feasibility studies for our small harbours
